Intel CPU Core Duo vs Core2 Duo

Intel CPU Core Duo is the very first generation of intel multicore architecture.
Therefore, there are no x64 support in Intel Core Duo.

Intel CPU Core2 Duo, however, has the capability of supporting x64 operation system.

The very benefits of x64 operation system is that you are able to allow more than 4 GB main memory in operation system. In contrast to x64, x86 windows can only allow the usage of no more than 3 GB main memory. Thats all about the operation system design. In Linux system, you can also allow more than 4 GB main memory with PAE kernel (physical adress extention)
